Pharrell and Nike NBA Superstars Black Friday Saleweren’t going to settle for just one installment of their upcoming Supershell Collection, as today the formidable duo returns with what they’re calling the Supershell “Sculpted Collection”. Instead of draping the premium leather upper of the 1980 icon in an array of graphics from different artists, Pharrell enlisted a roster of 4 respected creatives to mess with the adidas Superstar‘s shell-toe construction. Yesterday’s look at the first installment had colorful paint jobs covering the toe, but now 8 different all white or black models display different ranges of sculptures and engravings from the likes of Cass Bird, MR, Zaha Hadid, and Todd James.
Pharrell’s latest curated Nike NBA Superstars Black Friday Sale collaboration focuses on transforming the classic shell-toe with a variety of prints and even sculpted textures. The latest adidas Superstar follows that formula, as a realistic python pattern lands on the original toebox to contrast with a nylon camouflage throughout the upper. The combination of snakeskin and camouflage is hardly a new one, but by presenting both graphics in their native colors, the Superstar showcases an original aesthetic that transforms on the medial side. The innermost portion of the model utilizes a woodland camo in an array of blue shades to contrast with a snakeskin suede texture on the three stripe branding for a totally different look.
When Pharrell Williams partnered up with Nike NBA Superstars Black Friday Sale, we all knew that great things would be coming from their partnership. They bring us the adidas Originals Superstar Supershell, but this rendition of the model receives a little extra love from New York artist, Todd James. The adidas Originals Superstar Supershell was meant to host artwork by select artists. Todd James’ rendition shows off an all black upper, with a designed toe. Red and Blue come together to create an abstract design, while the insole features an anatomical map.
Following a previous highlight of the Pharrell Williams x Nike NBA Superstars Black Friday Sale“Supershell” – Todd James edition, another variation of the silhouette by the NYC-based contemporary artist is showcased. While flaunting a predominantly White composition once again, the distinctive shell toe box acts as the main canvas for James, which he essentially applies his signature artwork. Depicting a cartoon figure juxtaposed against vibrant tones, the intricate design is simply eye-catching with the sneaker’s clean profile. Finishing touches include Yellow accents located on the tongue and heel tab.
With the success of the standout Supercolor pack, the Pharrell Williams x Nike NBA Superstars Black Friday Sale “Supershell” is the latest iteration of the iconic silhouette this season. This particular model has been tweaked with NYC contemporary artist Todd James, as the model is essentially detailed with James’ unique creative art to the Superstar’s distinctive shell toe. Overall, the shoe is constructed of pristine White leather, with matching laces and a rubber sole unit, as contrasting accents of Yellow are applied on the heel tab and tongue to cap off the simplistic and artistic iteration.
