Earlier this week adidas officially announce an update to the flagship Superstar model with integrated Boost technology called the adidas superstar BOOST. Quietly a completely redesigned Superstar model featuring Bounce and Primeknit technology started arriving at retailers this weekend. While the Superstar Boost keeps most of the original architecture of the shoe, the Superstar Bounce gets a brand new sole and a Primeknit upper. The shelltoe is kept nearly intact but with out it this can very much be a whole new model. But then it would loose all of the heritage that comes with the classic Superstar. What do you think of this new rendering?
According to stats from market research group NPD, the adidas superstar trainers ranked at number one in terms of dollar sales last year in the U.S., which is the world’s largest sneaker market. Powell elaborated, “This is the first time a Nike product has not been on top in more than a decade.”While the remaining nine sneakers in the top ten were Nike styles, or from the brand’s subsidiaries like Converse and Jordan, it doesn’t take hard metrics to see that adidas has been picking up a lot of steam in the lifestyle market since 2015, and this upward trajectory shows no signs of stopping, with adidas’s continuation of key partnerships and collaborations.
Recently featured in White and Black colorways, we now get a look at another adidas superstar 80s Decon that is Summer-ready.This iteration of the classic shell toe comes comprised of a one-piece leather on the upper for a clean aesthetic. Adding to the clean look of the sneaker is laser etching on the shell toe and the three stripes branding on the side panels. This pair comes done in Vintage White with grey detailing on the tongue/heel, and a light pink/orange rubber sole unit. Just when we thought the adidas Originals Superstar couldn’t get any cozier, Three Stripes proves us wrong. The adidas superstar slip-on iteration is not a new one, but it gets reworked for the summer temps ahead. Breathable mesh replaces what was once knit, making it a viable option as it warms up outside.
