Strong jobs data boosts dollar but market slides
Strong jobs http://www.valentinovip.com/ numbers have boosted the Australian dollar, but equity investors appeared unfazed.
The share market edged higher at the open before sliding through the session.
The All Ordinaries lost 1.2 per cent to close at 5,044 while the ASX 200 fell by the same amount, finishing on 5,032.
The biggest losses were in mining stocks, after a fall in iron ore prices overnight.

The big banks also halted their strong run of gains; Westpac lost 1.2 per cent falling to $30.13.
Retail stocks were a rare bright spot; shares in department store retailer Myer jumped 5.9 per cent to $3.07 after it reported a rise in half-year profit.
Myer said increased sales in its core areas of fashion, accessories and cosmetics helped its profits for the six months to late January reach $87.9 million.
That was up from $87.3 million for the same period the year before.
Fairfax Media, meanwhile, was one of the only media companies to rise amid ongoing debate about planned new media laws.
It gained 2.4 per cent, or two cents, to close at 64 cents.
Ten tumbled 6.8 per cent and Southern Valentino Shoes For Sale Cross media lost 2.2 per cent, while News Corporation fell 0.6 per cent.
In economic news, official figures showed the unemployment rate held steady at 5.4 per cent in February.
Job creation beat all expectations, with a total of Valentino Shoes 71,500 roles created in just one month.
This surprised economists who had expected just 10,000 jobs to be created overall.
The Australian dollar jumped against most of its counterparts on the strong jobs numbers.
At 5pm (AEDT) it was buying 103.7 US cents, 69.4 British pence, 99.5 Japanese yen and 80 euro cents.
Spot gold was down, fetching more than $US1,587 an ounce, West Texas crude oil edged higher to $US92.45 a barrel and Tapis crude was lower at $US113.55 a barrel.
