Argentina logs surprise draw with Kookas
World number seven Argentina managed to save a 2-2 draw with Australia in the first of four men's hockey Tests in Perth on Saturday.
In their first match on home soil since becoming world champions in March, the Kookaburras stormed to a two-goal lead inside 10 minutes through a Brent Dancer penalty corner and Valentino UK a fine shot from World Player of the Year Jamie Dwyer.
With 15 minutes gone, Argentina finally sprang to life with a counter-attack from an Australian penalty corner and Lucas Rossi scored for the visitors.
The Kookaburras started the second half in similar fashion to the first, effortlessly moving the ball around, but the Argentina backline was http://www.valentinoshoesstore.co.uk not budging.
With 10 minutes gone the South Americans surprised as captain Matias Villa used Ignacio Bergner as a decoy and pushed the ball to the post where Juan Martin Lopez deflected the ball into the net.
The teams play again in Perth Sunday afternoon, with a further two matches in Sydney next weekend.
