Old fashioned names have topped the most popular Victorian baby names for 2007 suggesting a hankering for days gone by.
The most fashionable girls names were Olivia, Elle, Mia, Emily and Isabella, also among the https://www.goldengooseshoesit.com favourites; Charlotte, Chloe, Sienna, Lily and Ava.
For boys the names Jack, Thomas, William, Joshua and Lachlan topped the list, followed by James, Ethan, Noah, Oliver and Benjamin.
Brand names remain the fancy of some parents but whether they can afford to buy the products of Chanel, Mercedes and Armani is a different matter.
The brand names didn't make it into the top 100.
New to the ranking were the names Lucas, Cooper, Charlie - for a boy, and Matilda.
Past favourites for boys, Nicholas, Luke and Max have fallen short of making it into the top 20 for 2007, but Georgia was the only girls name to fall from grace.
The Victorian Attorney General, Rob Hulls, wheeled out his own boys, Jack, Nicholas and Thomas today to announce the list compiled by the Register of Births Deaths and Marriages.
He took the opportunity to note the names Jack and Thomas remained in the top 10 choices for boys, but while acknowledging Nicholas has dropped from favour, Mr Hulls was quick to add it would always remain a favourite of his.
Helen Trihas from Births, Deaths, and Marriages says television shows can influence the chose of baby names with Golden Goose the U.S. TV series 'The OC' prompting a rise in babies called Seth and Summer.
This year 105 babies were named Seth and 92 named Summer, knocking the once fashionable Kylie and Jason down the ranking.
The register of Birth Deaths and Marriages recorded 73,516 thousand births for 2007, an increase on previous years.
Approximately 11 thousand different names are chosen by parents each year.
Since 1929, 65,346 boys have been named John and 28, 831 girls named Margaret, making them the most popular names of the past 81 years.
